Dodge Dakota Fuel Tank Wiring Plug Diagram

DIY Fuel heart or Fuel Gauge perturb shooting (non dial-rising amicable)

I make seen a great deal of fire pump problems with our year(s) of trucks so I thought I would scramble a info paginate. All these pictures were taken from my 1993 Dakota Magnum V8.

Common Problems

  • Fire gauge not interpretation in good order…

a) sending unit damaged
b) floater stuck against tank (common drive is pump installed incorrectly facing wrong direction)
c) muscae volitantes fell off pump unit in tank
d) check potential on harness for voltage reading (varies depending connected how full the tank is)
e) damage whitethorn have occurred to electronic plank, tracing May have been rubbed off or have broken traces. Here is a link from the FAQ on how to replace the sender on the pump https://dodgeforum.com/meeting place/2216246-post9.hypertext markup language

**Some years/tanks (not mine) have an pointer along the top of the tank car which has to match the arrow on top of the fire pump. I cannot stress this part adequate, the arrows Essential queue up or you will have problems with readings. Mine was rubbing against the tank wall in and one of these days fell off giving Maine a constant reading of a quarter full tank.

  • Pump not pumping

a) Chit wiring and grounds
b) Check voltage on harness at pump
c) Check ASD relay in the flux boxes in the locomotive engine colored. See 1995 Service Manual 95AN_8W.pdf Page. 64 (more information see fathom of this post)
d) Obstructed fuel filter on pump or/and clogged international trickle (some years did non have a external filter) check happening your put rails near the fuel tank OR mid part of frame.
Note: one direction of checking to see if the sending unit/pump is toast is to commit power to the pump harness direct from the battery.

To access the tank, there is two slipway of doing this.
1. Remove the package and access tank and wiring
2. Drain and lower tank

Caveat!! When you use up the gas line clips off the tank, they are plastic and are usually brittle. I would advise to get new clips earlier attempting hosepipe removal. Get the proper clips every bit well. (a lay in sold Maine the wrong sic and they came remove while driving down the road causing deprivation of fuel)

Checking ASD Relay:
ASD relay is in the flux boxes in the engine bay. See 1995 Table service Manual 95AN_8W.pdf Varlet. 64
If exponent and ground is practical to the magnetic coil side of the relay, the other two terminals should move on closed. Use a ohms beat to tryout open and closed. (battalion way explicit, 0 means closed)

More information to come...

I hope this helps you guys as information technology has helped me... I will add to this A more info comes along.
